Workers undergoing professional pension insurance, in whom the special work experience before January 1, 2009 is less than half (or absent) required to assign a pension by age for work with special working conditions or seniority pensions, are given the right to professional pension insurance or to a monthly extra charge to wages in the amount determined by the employer, but no less than the amount of contributions to professional Pension insurance of an employee due to paying the state extra -budgetary fund of social protection of the population of the Republic of Belarus in accordance with the law.
The employee has the right to choose:
- Professional pension insurance;
- Monthly surcharge for wages.
When the employee chooses professional pension insurance, the employer continues to pay contributions for professional pension insurance and the employee continues to form professional experience, pension savings and, accordingly, the right to early or additional professional pension.
When choosing a monthly surcharge for wages, the employee receives an additional current income instead of the right to a professional pension in the future.
The choice of surcharge will provide the employees with the opportunity to send part of the funds received to participate on October 1, 2022 in a new form of additional funded pension insurance in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated 09/27/2021 No. 367 “On voluntary insurance of additional funded pension” in order to expand the opportunities to increase material security in old age.
