The Department of Clinical Transfusiology is located on the basis of the multidisciplinary 6th City Clinical Hospital, which allows for any types of laboratory and instrumental examinations at a high level, adjust treatment of the underlying and concomitant diseases, and hospitalize patients in wards of therapeutic and orthopedic profile of varying comfort levels.

Treatment is based on methods of purifying blood from toxic substances, correcting its rheology (fluidity), immunity, and metabolic disorders. All operations are performed on modern equipment, using the latest technologies and only disposable sterile materials. Treatment completely excludes infection with hepatitis B, C viruses, HIV and other pathogens transmitted through blood.

The following types of medical services are provided

Plasmapheresis

A certain amount of blood is removed from the bloodstream, the removed blood is separated into components, the liquid part (plasma) is removed with subsequent replacement of its volume with special solutions and return of blood cells to the patient. The session lasts 90-180 min. with the manual method, 50 min. with the hardware method. The course consists of 3-4 sessions at intervals of 3-4 days under laboratory control.

Ultraviolet blood irradiation

Causes destruction of microbes in the patient's body, increases the resistance of the immune system, reduces blood clotting and viscosity, increases metabolism. The patient's blood is passed in a sterile disposable system over a source of ultraviolet rays. The session lasts from 20 to 49 min. The course includes 5-8 sessions.

Supravenous laser blood irradiation

Improves microcirculation, stimulates metabolism, rejuvenates the body, calms the nervous system, relieves insomnia, reduces pain, swelling, inflammation, lowers blood pressure. Course of treatment - 5-10 procedures.

Skin laser irradiation

For herpetic skin lesions, furunculosis 5-10 procedures.

Autoserotherapy

Reduces allergic and autoimmune reactions, stimulates immunity. Treatment course 10 days and repeated course after 2 weeks.

Other methods include bloodletting, magnetotherapy, local application of platelet-rich plasma, etc.

In 2017, 6258 therapeutic procedures were performed with a positive clinical effect.

The department works from Monday to Friday from 8 to 16 hours.

At the City Transfusiology Center of the 6th City Clinical Hospital, the PRP therapy method is used with great success for effective treatment of various kinds of injuries and exacerbations of chronic conditions of the musculoskeletal system.

PRP therapy (plated rich plasma) is a method of treating various types of diseases by injectable administration of autologous platelet-rich plasma isolated from whole blood of the patient.​

The principle of action is based on delivery to the pathological zone of natural factors from alpha-granules of platelets involved in the body's recovery processes, such as:

• epidermal growth factors (EGF);
• vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGF);
• platelet growth factors (PDGF):
• transforming growth factors beta (TGF-b) and fibroblast growth factors (FGF)

PRP therapy is most effective for:

• exacerbation of degenerative-dystrophic diseases of the musculoskeletal system (arthrosis and arthritis of various joints, spinal osteochondrosis, etc.);
• shoulder-scapular periarthritis (damage to the rotator cuff, tendon of the long head of the biceps, impingement syndrome;
• epicondylitis ("tennis elbow", "golfer's elbow");
• tendinitis, ligamentitis (inflammation of the Achilles tendon, inflammation of the patellar ligament).

Application area:

• arthrosis 2-3 st.: gonarthrosis, coxarthrosis, omarthrosis, arthrosis; acromioclavicular joint (most effective therapy in initial stages);
• tendinitis, ligamentitis (inflammation of the Achilles tendon, inflammation of the patellar ligament);

Features of the procedure in our clinic

Our clinic specialists have been trained and possess certificates confirming the possibility of using PRP therapy technology in traumatology and orthopedics.

The use of special tubes of the "hourglass" type, as well as adapted centrifuges, allows obtaining preparations of platelet-rich plasma in the shortest possible time (on average, the procedure takes no more than 20 minutes). The concentration of platelets in such samples according to laboratory studies can reach  2 000 000 activated platelets in 1 ml of the drug (for comparison, in whole blood this number averages 250 000 NOT activated in 1 ml).

Processing of blood by the applied method leads to concentration of platelets by 7-9 times, which leads to their activation – release of growth factors from alpha-granules. The obtained platelet layer is taken from the tube and used as a therapeutic drug by injections into the affected segment of the musculoskeletal system. The course of injections consists of 3-7 procedures with a frequency of once every 7-10 days depending on the type of disease.
