How to quit smoking?

The spread of smoking in the world has the form of an epidemic and is a global problem for humanity, since the effect of tobacco smoke is one of the causes of death, diseases and disability of a large number of people. The consequences of a bad habit annually lead to death about 6 million people in the world (of which 600 thousand passive smokers).

In Europe alone, the annual number of deaths associated with the consumption of tobacco products is about 1.2 million (14% of all deaths). In Europe, about 215 million people, of which 130 million men are smokers. According to the European Union, 19000 non-smokers die annually due to passive smoking. According to WHO experts, by 2020, tobacco will become the main cause of death of 10 million people annually. According to statistics, about 43.9 million people (39.1 % of the population) are smoked in Russia.

Up to 40% of deaths from coronary heart disease are associated with smoking, up to 30% from cancer. Smoking significantly increases the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. According to settlement data, annually in the Republic of Belarus, 15,500 people lose their lives due to this habit. For comparison: about 2,000 people die annually in traffic accidents.

Smoking is one of the most common causes of death that a person is able to prevent. But, unfortunately, many smokers do not believe that you can quit smoking on their own, but there are such smokers who put off the refusal of smoking for a later date, believing that their body has already caused irreparable harm and therefore to quit smoking simply pointless. This is far from the case. The damage caused to the body with smoking is aggravated with each new cigarette smoked. The sooner a person began to smoke, the more risk he will subsequently, and the faster a person quit smoking, the, respectively, the effect will be better.

Refusal of smoking immediately has a positive effect on human health. The risk of developing a serious illness begins to decline almost immediately, breathing improves very quickly, those who quit smoking will become less susceptible to coughing and the development of infections.

If people quit smoking before the development of oncological diseases, serious complications from the heart or lung diseases, then they mostly manage to avoid the risk of premature death.

Every year, thousands of smokers part with this habit forever. Some of them can do this on their own, and for those who are not able to do this, we advise you to consult a specialist.

Currently, on the basis of narcological dispensaries they are already functioning and will be opened in the future for the treatment of tobacco dependence.

The arsenal of a specialist doctor currently has a number of means and methods to help people who want to quit smoking. The treatment is carried out anonymously.

Among them are the following:

1. Nicotine -containing chewing gum (antinicotine film, nicotine patch, etc.). Their use doubles the chances of full cure for smoking;

When using chewing gum, the following advice of a specialist doctor must be observed:

  • Use it instead, not in parallel with smoking a cigarette;
  • Each loaf (elastic band) can be chewed for 20-30 minutes;
  • Stop chewing if you feel a slight dizziness if you have a hiccup, or if the taste of chewing gum seems too sharp to you;
  • Chewing gum may seem unpleasant for you for a few days, but do not worry, you will get used to it.

The use of chewing gum is recommended for 3-4 months of the period of weaning from smoking.

If chewing gum is applied without compliance with the rules specified in the instructions and without appropriate observation, the effectiveness of this application will probably not be very high.

2. Reflexotherapy methods (auricotherapy, corporate acupuncture).

It is necessarily carried out with the use of gold and silver needles so that the difference in electrical potentials can be obtained at different acupuncture points of the ear sink. On the potential introduced into the body, the potential is 6.5 times higher than on silver. The use of gold and silver needles allows you to naturally create in auricular acupuncture points the optimal value of the electrical potential, characteristic of each individually, and in connection with this, the effectiveness of treatment increases sharply.

In 20% of people, the “smoker reflex” is erased. The full course of treatment consists of five procedures and the overall treatment effect is approaching 90%.

3. Medicines.Various chemical drugs are prescribed: anabazine hydrochloride, dumplings, citris, hamibazin, tabex, propranolol, cerer (homeopathic remedy), valerian drugs, lobelin, clonidine, pyroxan, etc.; Food supplements (anti -novel, corrida, nikomel) Cigarette substitutes(Inhaler Nikrette).

4. Psychotherapeutic methods- suggestion, autogenic training, paradoxical respiratory gymnastics according to A. Strelnikova and others.

Try to use the following tips.

1. Set a date when you can actually abandon cigarettes.

2. Find yourself a business that will distract you in the first few days.

3. Remove all ashtrays, cigarette packs, matches and lighters.

4. Drink enough water and keep the glass next to you so that you can constantly drink from it a little throughout the day.

5. More activity - this will help you relax. Go to the gym, for a walk or swim.

6. Discard optimistic - sensations that arise in the refusal of nicotine are unpleasant, but they are a sign that your body is restored. They will pass in a week or two.

7. For a while, change your daily habits: choose a new route where they do not sell cigarettes. If you always smoke with friends in a cafe during lunch, then spend this time somewhere else.

8. Do not look for a reason to smoke again: a stressful situation or a holiday is not a reason for returning to an old habit.

9. Please yourself: with the money that used to go to cigarettes, buy yourself something especially pleasant and desirable.

10. Watch what you eat. Choose fruits instead of high-calorie snacks if you feel the desire to chew something between meals.

11. Look around and remember that every day, free from cigarettes, benefits your health, your family and your pocket.

12. If you refuse smoking, you must be persistent, and only then it will be possible to overcome this bad habit.

13. Start a new life. The world is beautiful without tobacco.
