To be a gratuitous donor is a kind of form of solidarity: civil, Christian, human ... This is prestigious, worthy, this means that you are a healthy adult who has an active civic position who wants to make the world a little better ...
If society helps those members who, for some reason, need help,-this makes such a society “civilian”. In many countries, when applying for a job, preference is given to someone who has a donor card. And this is not surprising. The donor is responsible for his health and has an active civic position - such an employee will not fail. The most important thing in all this is that for the donors themselves, donating blood is a conscious gesture of help to the one who fell into trouble, and not the moment of extraction of any benefit.
From history
The first transfusion of blood from a person from a person in 1818 was made by the London professor of obstetrics and gynecology, James Blandell using a special apparatus.
In 1832, the St. Petersburg obstetrician Andrei Martynovich Wolf, using the Blandell apparatus, performed the first surgery for blood transfusion with a postpartum bleeding from her husband - the first blood donor in Russia.
Since the late 30s of the last century, blood transfusion or its individual fractions has become widespread in medicine.
