June 26 marks the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which is an important event for specialists in the field of drug addiction. On this day, events are held to draw attention to the problem of drug addiction and support efforts to combat it.
Medical consequences of drug use include:
- poisoning of the body with damage to internal organs (liver, kidneys, stomach, intestines, etc.);
- inflammation of the veins and blood poisoning as a result of using non-sterile syringes and needles;
- severe viral infections: HIV infection, viral hepatitis B and C, syphilis;
- withdrawal syndrome or "breaking pain", which is accompanied by convulsions, disorders of the stomach, intestines, cardiovascular system in the form of various types of pain, interruptions in the work of the heart.
