Thermal blow

In summer, high air temperature becomes a real problem, often causing adults and childrenThermal blow. Many believe that in the heat they will not be his victims. However, our body is not always ready for thermal overloads.

Thermal blow- The consequence of the body overheating. It can be felt not only on the summer beach, but also in the sauna, with special types of work (bakery, ceramic production). In the heat, the body is not able to maintain normal body temperature, and it grows rapidly. Blood circulation and sweating are disturbed, free radicals accumulate in the tissues. The thermal blow can cause severe consequences, up to the stop of the heart.

Sunstroke- A private example of a thermal blow. After a long stay in the open sun without protection, the head overheats, the vessels expand, and the blood stagnates in the brain. With a sunny blow, first of all, the nervous system suffers, so this type of overheating is especially dangerous.

Signs of thermal blow.Probably, many are familiar with light nausea and heaviness in the head when staying in crowded transport or when landing in a car that spent the whole summer day in the parking lot. These are signs of thermal blow. True, they quickly pass, as they were caused by a slight overheating. In more severe cases, the mainSigns of thermal or solar shock- This:

  • redness of the face (with sunny) and body skin (with a thermal blow);
  • dyspnea;
  • sharp weakness;
  • severe headache;
  • nausea, vomiting;
  • dizziness, darkening in the eyes (in children, nasal bleeding is often observed);
  • frequent and weak pulse;
  • In severe cases - convulsions, hallucinations, loss of consciousness.

It should be remembered that children and elderly people tolerate overheating worse. At a young age, the natural thermoregulation of the body is still imperfect, and in the elderly it is already weak.

What to do with a thermal blow?

At the first signs of a thermal blow, especially if the victim is a child or an elderly person, you should call a doctor. Before his arrival, the main task is to ensure the cooling of the body. If you feel nausea, weakness - try to take a horizontal position, lying on your back in a cool place. It is advisable to raise your legs a little, putting a rolled blanket, pillow, bag under the ankles.

Attach cold compresses on the forehead and under the back of the head (a towel moistened with cold water, even pieces of ice). In a standard driver’s first -aid kit, you can use a cooling bag (portable hypothermic package).

Provide the influx of fresh air: open the windows, unbutton your clothes. If clothes are made of dense fabric, or synthetics, it is better to remove it.

If possible, pour the body with cool (18-20s) water, you can even take a cool bath.

If the consciousness is closed, then the vapors of ammonia should be inhaled, or a 10%solution of ammonia (it is in any pharmacy, the first-aid post, in the driver's first-aid kit).

After the first aid, the doctor will appreciate the situation, and in most cases it will recommend bed rest for the next few days. This time is necessary in order to restore the course of biochemical reactions, blood circulation, and the activity of the nervous system. If you neglect the recovery period, then the risk of re -thermal blow increases many times.

How to avoid a thermal blow?

Compliance with elementary rules will help to avoid the severe consequences of the thermal blow.

  1. It should be remembered that there are a number of factors that predispose to a thermal impact. This is overweight, smoking, alcohol intoxication, endocrine disorders, cardiovascular diseases.
  2. People from the listed risk groups need to avoid intensive physical work, staying in the sauna, bath, on the beach, under the open sun.
  3. It is important that stress and nervous tension contribute to the onset of thermal blow - and we experience them in public transport and even in our own cars in city traffic jams. Try not to be nervous and not to perceive the situation "close to heart."
  4. Choose clothes from well -ventilated, natural fabrics (cotton, linen, wool).
  5. Do not test your body: regularly ventilate the rooms. The influx of fresh air provides the correct operation of the internal systems of the body, helps to better adapt to external influences (including short -term overheating).
  6. Going to the cottage or a country picnic, be sure to protect your head from direct sunlight with a light panama or light umbrella.
  7. When choosing a beach (especially for relaxation with children), inform you about the availability of showers. In the case of a thermal blow, cool shower water will help cool the body and prevent unpleasant consequences.
